These recordings were made in 2017 over the course of several rehearsal sessions. They were intended as a reference for Sam and I to learn each other’s songs, so they are a little rough around the edges. I wanted to share these recordings, as imperfect as they are, to let these songs live in the world somehow.

Sam was well known as a drummer, but he was also a songwriter who sang and played many other instruments. With the collaboration of friend Howard Gee he had recorded some of his songs in the studio and released one track, "Last Chance", on a Failing Records Compilation. (An extended studio version of "Last Chance" is included on the album courtesy of Howard.)

I had a number of songs I was performing at solo shows with electric guitar and vocals. Sam and I jammed many times over the years so we decided to team up. The ultimate plan was to have us both on guitar / vocals, then to add a bass player and drummer (a drummer for Sam Henry!). Unfortunately I had to step back from the project due to health issues, but hoped that we could come back to it at some point.

Sam passed away suddenly in early 2022. He will be greatly missed.
